STATEMENT REGARDING THE STATE BUDGET CONFERENCE COMMITTEE’S ACTION TO STOP ANTI-FOOTHILL-SOUTH LANGUAGE FROM INCLUSION IN THE BUDGET -
JUNE 12, 2006
From Ken Ryan, Chairman of the Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agency:
“We are very pleased, but we know this isn’t the end of the battle.
This was an obvious attempt to hijack the state budget process to stop an important infrastructure project that would go a long way toward relieving regional traffic congestion between Orange and San Diego counties.
While we are continuing to respond to the lawsuits, we are still moving forward with preliminary design and permitting.
Completing the 241 Toll Road is a solution that will improve traffic without taking homes or businesses, is environmentally sensitive, and will be privately funded and paid back through user-fees without taxpayer expense.”
